Terms of Service

Last updated: June 9, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Highlit’s in-app stories platform, dashboard, SDKs, and related services. By creating an account or using Highlit, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Highlit’s services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the services.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and post a notice on this page. Your continued use of Highlit after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you (or the organization you represent) and Highlit. If you are using Highlit on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company to these Terms.

2. Account & Eligibility

To use Highlit, you must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts. Each organization may maintain one primary account; team members may be invited under that account.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at security@highlit.io if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep that information updated. We may suspend or terminate accounts containing false or misleading information.

3. Subscription & Billing

Highlit offers tiered subscription plans (Starter, Growth, Enterprise). Plan features and pricing are described on highlit.io/pricing.

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Annual plans receive a discount as shown on the pricing page. By default, billing is in USD. For Gulf customers, we accept payments in SAR via Mada and STC Pay; in AED via local payment partners.

Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through your account dashboard.

Annual plans are refundable within 30 days of the initial purchase if you have not significantly used the service. Monthly plans are non-refundable but may be cancelled to prevent the next charge.

We may change pricing with at least 30 days’ notice. Price changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle following the notice period.

All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes (VAT, withholding tax). You are responsible for any taxes required by your jurisdiction.

4. Acceptable Use

You may not use Highlit for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms. Prohibited activities include:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these acceptable use guidelines, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.

  • Publishing content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or violates applicable laws in your jurisdiction
  • Distributing malware, viruses, or any code designed to harm users or systems
  • Infringing on intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Attempting to bypass rate limits, security measures, or access controls
  • Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract source code from our SDKs
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or transferring access to Highlit without our written authorization
  • Using Highlit to send unsolicited communications or spam
  • Engaging in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the service

5. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to the content you upload to Highlit (stories, images, videos, copy). By using Highlit, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the services.

Highlit and all underlying technology, software, SDKs, dashboards, documentation, and branding are the exclusive property of Highlit. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our IP except the limited right to use the services as described.

The Highlit name, logo, and visual identity are trademarks owned by us. You may not use them without our prior written consent, except to indicate that your app integrates Highlit (e.g., "Powered by Highlit").

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use that feedback to improve Highlit, without compensation or attribution.

6. Service Availability

We aim to provide reliable service, with a target uptime of 99.9% per calendar month for paid plans (Growth, Enterprise). Uptime calculations exclude scheduled maintenance and force majeure events.

Scheduled maintenance windows are announced at least 48 hours in advance via email and our status page. We strive to schedule maintenance during low-traffic hours.

We may suspend access to the service to address security incidents, perform emergency maintenance, or respond to legal requirements. We will restore access as soon as reasonably possible.

You may terminate your subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Upon termination, we will retain your account data for 90 days during which you may export it; after that period, data is securely deleted unless legal retention obligations apply.

7. Liability & Warranties

Highlit is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We do not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or third-party integrations.

To the extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services shall not exceed the amounts you paid to Highlit in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

In no event shall Highlit be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

You agree to indemnify and hold Highlit harmless from any claims, damages, or losses arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your use of the services.

8. Contact & Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
